SampleShot is a tool for capturing, chopping, and building with sound. Your recordings stay on your devices and belong to you to manage — but the app doesn't give you any rights to the material you record. If you sample someone else's work into music you release, clearing those rights is on you.
These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and Rekursive Labs LLC, a Texas limited liability company ("we") covering the SampleShot apps for iPhone and Mac and the sampleshot.studio website. By downloading or using SampleShot you agree to these terms. For copies delivered through Apple's App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to the extent it doesn't conflict with these terms; Apple is not a party to this agreement and has no responsibility for the app or its content.
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use SampleShot on Apple devices you own or control, for your own use. You may not copy, sell, rent, sublicense, or redistribute the app, or reverse-engineer it except where the law says we can't stop you.
SampleShot records audio that plays on or into your device and gives you tools to edit and build with it. What you do with those recordings is your responsibility:
We don't monitor, host, or have any access to your recordings — everything stays on your devices and in your own iCloud storage — so we can't clear rights for you, and we accept no responsibility for how captured material is used.
SampleShot Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription (monthly or yearly) purchased and billed through your Apple ID. It renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; manage or cancel it any time in your Apple ID subscription settings. New users get a 7-day free trial of Pro features; the trial doesn't convert to a paid subscription on its own. Prices may change for future periods with notice through the App Store. Purchases, refunds, and billing are handled by Apple under Apple's terms.
Your recordings, chops, sessions, and library are yours and live on your devices (and, if you enable sync, in your own iCloud Drive). We run no servers, keep no copies, and collect no personal data — see the Privacy Policy. Back up your library; we can't recover anything for you, because we never had it.
SampleShot is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise the app will be error-free or that any recording, analysis (keys, tempo, similarity), or export will be accurate or suitable for your purposes.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost data, lost profits, or claims arising from how you use or publish captured material. Our total liability for any claim relating to SampleShot is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim.
These terms apply for as long as you use SampleShot. We may end the license if you materially breach them. Sections 3, 5, 6, and 7 survive termination.
We may update these terms as the app evolves; the "Last updated" date above will change and the current version will always live at this address. Continuing to use SampleShot after an update means you accept the revised terms.
